Mary Elizabeth Bass Bryant Endowed Scholarship

While Mary’s life on earth was short, her contributions and the impact that she made on others were significant. Mary’s love and desire to help all—from family, friends, fellow students in the Eden community-to people she didn’t even know, was apparent every day. Mary had a deep and caring heart for others and was never hesitant to find a way to hold her hand out and lift someone up either physically, or spiritually. Mary was deeply loved by her family who was so proud of Mary’s chosen path toward ministry. Mary loved the Eden community-and the community loved Mary. Other students, faculty and staff felt the contagious nature of Mary and her desire to do God’s work. Mary combined a strong faith and good deeds to make God’s kingdom better for all. This fund is invested as an integral part of the endowment of the seminary. Income from the investment of this scholarship fund is awarded annually to a woman of color studying for the Master of Divinity degree at Eden. May all who received support from this fund find joy, gratitude—and the peace that Mary had in life, as they live out their call.
